| AMD Radeon HD 6990 looks very long |
Previously pixellized a couple of days ago in the hands of AMD's Matt Skynner, AMD's upcoming Radeon HD 6990 has now been spotted in full detail. Featuring two Cayman GPUs, the HD 6990 will be packing 3072 stream processors and 4GB of memory paired with a 2x256-bit memory interface.

The HD 6990 has a suprisingly clean design and features a dual-slot cooler with a center-placed blower fan. The fan is placed between two GPUs and according to previous rumours it should provide airflow to two vapor-chamber based heatsinks. Interestingly enough, the engineering sample has one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors, although it is not excluded that the retail version might end up with two 8-pin connectors.

The card has a single CrossfireX connector for some quad-GPU fun and the backplate features a singe DVI port and four mini DisplayPort outputs. Although there hasn't been any talk regarding the price of the HD 6990, the best guess is that it could easily go over US $500, depending on how well it scales against Nvidia's GTX 580 flagship.
The card is scheduled to make an appearance by the end of this quarter.
