<b>SAPPHIRE Innovations</b><br />

The advanced cooling system for the new SAPPHIRE Vapor-X series has been engineered with a combination of SAPPHIRE innovative technologies to provide not just efficient cooling, but also quiet operation. At the core of the cooling system is the SAPPHIRE exclusive Vapor-X technology. SAPPHIRE pioneered the use of vapor chamber technology on graphics cards and has now used it in several generations of highly successful products. The vapor chamber is mounted between the GPU itself and the base of the heatsink and cooler assembly to ensure the maximum transfer of heat away from the GPU into the cooler.</div>

The new Vapor-X cooler uses SAPPHIRE’s latest and highly acclaimed Tri-X structure comprising five heatpipes and three efficient fans. The core heatpipe is an industry leading 10mm pipe, flanked by two 8mm pipes and two 6mm pipes ensuring even heat distribution across the cooler. The three 90 mm fans use aerofoil section blades for maximum airflow with minimum noise, and are each equipped with two sets of dust repelling ball bearings.</div>

The stylish fan shroud also contains moulded guides to control the airflow across and through the cooler, including over the Power Control circuitry.  The combination of Vapor-X and Tri-X technologies results in GPU temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees cooler than with Tri-X alone – delivering industry leading cooling for this generation of graphics cards.</div>

Another new feature of the cooler on this new model is a PCB Component heat spreader. Along the edge of the card the PCB is extended and one of the copper layers left exposed. An additional heatsink mounted directly to this copper layer allows heat absorbed into the PCB from the GPU and other components to be transferred to the heatsink and cooled by the airflow. This feature alone can reduce core temperature by several degrees.</div>

<b>New VRM Engine</b></div>

To deliver sufficient power for maximum performance, the Vapor-X series uses Digital Power control and a new Aero6 VRM section delivering 6-phase power with high power Direct-FET technology to the GPU, memory and control circuitry. The power design uses the latest version of SAPPHIRE Black Diamond chokes, so called because they feature a black ferrite cooler for cool running and better efficiency. High reliability solid electrolyte capacitors are used throughout. The Aero6 gets its name because the layout of the 6-phase power circuits, chokes and the dedicated FET cooler resembles the appearance of a high performance engine.</div>

Recognizing that the R9 series will not always be running at high performance, SAPPHIRE has incorporated another new feature in the Vapor-X models, Intelligent Fan Control (IFC). With IFC engaged, if the system is running simpler applications such as 2D work or watching video, only one of the three fans will operate, resulting in near silent operation. As soon as the GPU temperature rises, when performing more demanding tasks such as gaming or 3D rendering, all three fans will operate, and continue to run with fan speeds regulated by the temperature profile. Extreme users or keen gamers might want to have all three fans running all the time, so the card is equipped with an IFC override switch.</div>

A Beyond3D forum member leaked pictures of what appears to be an engineering release of Radeon HD 7900 series Tahiti cards running in CrossfireX.<br />

The specs are still unknown but looking at the picture reveals a thing or two. The card is pictured from behind, and its pretty much clear it comes equipped with a total of twelve memory chips, which confirms the rumored 384-bit memory interface.<br />
<br />
Another interesting thing are the PCI-Express power connectors, the card will need one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI-Express power connector. Just remember these are engineering release cards and the final version might be slightly different.<br />
<br />
We should expect more leaks and details pretty soon.

During the same month (December 2011), NVIDIA plans to tape out the  first silicon based on Project Denver, which combines up to 8-core  custom NVIDIA-ARM 64-bit CPU with a GeForce 600-class "Kepler" GPU. The company  had a lot of issues in development of a CPU and the general consensus is  that NVIDIA is take a conservative approach with a single 28nm PD CPU  design and the 28nm Kepler-based GPU. <br />

Unlike AMD's APU design, where CPU and GPU parts connect to the memory controller at the speed of DDR3 memory, Project Denver is looking for a more direct communication between CPU and GPU cores, i.e. relying on the best GPU design can offer: high-bandwidth connection. NVIDIA is not taking the conventional route with L1, L2 and L3 cache design, since the GPUs have 1TB/s+ connections to its cache memory, similar approach is rumored for Denver core design as well. Just like in the GPUs, memory controller takes the larger portion of the die and connects CUDA cores with CPU cores and CPU will have priority access to the bandwidth needed.<br />
<br />
NVIDIA doesn't want to clock it to heavens' high, but rather to squeeze each IPC (Instruction Per Clock) as possible. Still, it is realistic to expect 2.0-2.5GHz for CPU and similar clock for the GPU part, with memory controller and the rest of the silicon working at a lower rate to keep everything well fed. However, NVIDIA needs around 10%-25% of the total bandwidth available for the CPU portion, keeping the GPU well fed with system memory.<br />
<br />
The design for the motherboards for notebooks, desktops and servers is also under way, with PCIe 3.0 being touted as the main connectivity feature, alongside USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps. According to the information given, nV is going to attack all remaining fronts - light notebooks will be covered by lower-scaled Tegra 3 and 4 (smartphone/tablet/netbook/t'n'l notebooks), more powerful silicon will be used for lighter-use notebooks and desktops, while the server play is probably the most interesting strategy.<br />
<br />
From one side, within one generation of PD CPU designs, NV wants to enter the blade market and offer a powerful GPU, but from another, the company wants to get rid of the demands for Intel or AMD x86 cores in their Tesla business (one Tesla GPGPU requires one x86 CPU - Xeon or Opteron for "feeding"). Removing X86 from that equation will significantly boost the profit outlook, just like AMD and Intel are enjoying charging an arm and a leg for the same silicon used in their desktop/notebook computers.<br />

After releasing their APU market for laptops , AMD has introduced its first 2 APU (Accelerated Processing Units) of A-Series family computer market for desktop models A6 and A8-3850-3650, which promise high performance integrated graphics on the same processor.<br />
<br />
Although the A-Series family includes more models and their specifications and features and we have detailed in previous notes, it is not until June 30 now that AMD officially introduced and initially these two models.<br />

The A6 and A8-3850-3650 are manufactured in a 32nm GPU and incorporate quad-core x86 with support for DirectX 11 GPU for Integrated controller, dual channel DDR3 memory with support for graphics technology combined (Integrated + discrete) Dual AMD Graphics Technology <br />

The A8-3850 is priced at $ 135 , has four cores at 2.9GHz with Radeon HD graphics 6550D (400 Stram Processors) at 600MHz, 4MB L2 cache and a TDP of 100W. For his part, A6-3650 model will cost $ 115and has a design with four cores to 2.6GHz with Radeon HD graphics 3530D (320 Stream Processors) to the GPU to 443Mhz, 4MB L2 cache and TDP of 100W the same.<br />

These APU today released to the press (reviews), but will be available in stores on July 3. Later A8 models launched AMD-3800 (2.4GHz / 2.7GHz CT) and A6-3600 (2.1Ghz/2.4 CT) have support for Core Turbo and have a TDP of just 65W, the model will then A6-3500 (2172 TC 0.4) .<br />
<br />
Are also scheduled dual-core models A4-3400 (2.7Ghz/65W) A4-3300 (2.5Ghz/65W) that come with graphics Radeon HD 6410D with 160 Stream Processors with 600Mhz and 443Mhz GPU A respectively.<br />
